It is amidst the mundane and familiar moments where light seems eager to seep in and startle you from a spiritual pause. The finest way to pass the time is to transcend it; to stumble drunkenly upon a fervent richness. These are reservoirs of impermanent bliss. Cradle them tightly. Care for them as you would your child; as you would a smouldering ember between fires.
Six songs eulogize another summer. The smell of water and sun lingers on the skin as you crawl home under an increasingly early sunset. A sun-bleached statue, it stands ready to gather frost and grow cold to the touch. A beacon for times past and all those yet to come.
The Human Sun descends. Casting light over a silent generation, the people wade into it eyes shut. As if waiting to be baptized, they smell the heat on their skin as the sound expands like morning birds waking from their sleep. A new call replaces the familiar as the Human Sun awakes.
Hello internet world. We haven't posted on the website for a while now, but have been tediously documenting our exploits on the instagram for a while now. Check that out if you would like weekly glimpses into our world.
Hopefully all of you have downloaded our free Fall sampler by now. We are very proud of how it all came together. If you have yet to do so, I strongly suggest getting on that.
So far the winter has been spent preparing for a myriad of releases this spring/summer/fall(?)(2017), so besides some great local and not so local shows we've attended/played, much of our time has been toiling the fields of preparation. Terrible metaphor. Anyhow, this spring you can expect a new split tape by Toronto's Humanities and Shahman's new cryptic apparition of themselves, yet to be unveiled to the public. Another great release yet to be confirmed will likely follow as well as some European and Japan tour dates by some Uncarved Block veterans.
Consider this a vaguely terrible update, but an update at that. More news will follow.
Enjoy your winter everyone.
You may remember Gauss from our very first release. Now they're back with the new EP, "Thalweg" out on October 8th. Art of the Uncarved Block is proud to once again be assisting with it's release.
Check out their feature interview with Explain for some talk on the band and a rare glimpse into the life of Gauss.
The second video premiere has been launched on Post-Trash before the official release date. Enjoy and please pre-order the album if you feel so inclined.
Hello everyone. On 09/23/16 we will be releasing Fragments of a Distant Light. Exclaim! has been kind enough to help us announce this fact as well as premiere a new video for Before the sun rose, she would strike a chord. A piece beautifully assembled by visual artist, Joucous. Pre-orders are now available via Art of the Uncarved Block, or through ourselves. More to come!
We are pleased to announce that Art of the Uncarved Block will be releasing the newest Dust from 1000 yrs album, entitled Spring. Pre-orders are up now, just follow the link to a fancy video premiere of Someday off the 8 track album.
Cassettes will be available 09/09/16.
We are excited to announce the first Uncarved Block release of Spring, 2016.
A four-way split between american scene stalwarts Davega Bike (TN), Rad Rad Riot (AR), Shahman (Canada), and Nouveau (IL).
Six songs to send off the cold and grey. Six songs to give you the strength to sink your feet back into the lake. Anthems for Revolution Spring. Sounds to sooth the wounds earned from protest. Sounds to cool the burnt patches of skin by occupying to closely, the steps of your state capital buildings that you set aflame. Tread with ease into these new beginnings with Family Force 4.
